BASIA BULAT annuncia il nuovo disco “THE GARDEN”

Basia Bulat, la cantautrice di Montreal, tra le voci più interessanti della sua generazione, annuncia “The Garden“: il nuovo album, il sesto, dell’artista canadese che  per quest’occasione dona una seconda vita ad alcuni brani contenuti nei suoi precedenti cinque album in studio, con straordinari arrangiamenti per quartetto d’archi di Owen Pallett, Paul Frith e Zou Zou Robidoux.
L’uscita digitale è prevista per il 25 febbraio 2022 mentre quella fisica per il 25 marzo, via Secret City Records.

Nota per suonare dal vivo sia con piccoli ensemble da camera che con orchestre complete, tra cui l’Ottawa National Arts Center Orchestra e la Symphony Nova Scotia, in “The Garden” Bulat per la prima volta decide di registrare queste configurazioni live estremamente affascinanti e inserirle nel disco.

Attraverso le 16 canzoni rivisita e dà nuova vita ad alcuni dei suoi pezzi più amati, accompagnata da un gruppo selezionato di archi e ai compagni di band Andrew Woods e Ben Whiteley alla chitarra e al basso, rispettivamente, che esaltano ulteriormente la sua voce singolare e il suo modo di scrivere canzoni senza tempo.

Ad accompgnare l’uscita del disco, la pubblicazione della title track arricchita dagli arrangiamenti di Owen Pallet, che ha recentemente collaborato con Taylor Swift, Haim, Arcade Fire e molti altri.

“This past year, I let myself slow down, dig in the dirt, take root, and look at what memories and melodies came springing back to me in the garden after many years on the road. When I wrote ‘The Garden’ [in 2016], I was in a distorted state of mind, and it took my hand and calmed me. ‘We won’t look back, and if we don’t, we won’t be lost.’ It told me to breathe into the present moment and look toward the future, and during this past year of stillness and reflection, it reminded me to do that again, like a meditation,” spiega Bulat.“Gardens evolve and change and are always growing. In my garden, the plants return, some pruned back, some overgrown, but they are never exactly the same as the year before. Owen’s arrangement for this song details all the blossoms and thorns blowing about together in the wind – new shoots and old shapes making themselves known to each other in magical ways. I feel so very fortunate to bring this song to another season in bloom.”.

Per Bulat “THE GARDEN” è stata l’occasione per registrare nuovamente alcune canzoni i cui significati sono cambiati rispetto a quando li aveva composti originariamente anni prima: “I sing the songs differently now,” ha affermato, “It’s the gift of time.”. Durante laregistrazione del disco Bulat ha appena scoperto che stava aspettando il suo primo figlio: una canzone può cambiare forma, trasformando nuove foglie e facendo crescere nuovi fiori, nelle stagioni inaspettate della vita.
